The Youth Police Academy is designed to give high school students an opportunity to experience the many role of police officers in their communities. We are pleased to announce this very special One-Day Modified Academy for our Special Needs Unit participants.
The purpose of the Youth Academy is to expose young people to police work, establish a positive relationship between the Police Department and young adults, and enhance responsible citizenship. The session consists of classroom lectures, physical training, defensive tactics, police demonstrations as well as obstacle course exercises. At the end of the day, the youth have a greater understanding and respect for the members of the Police Department.
Registered participants should eat a healthy breakfast before arriving at the academy. Participants will attend from 9AM-4PM Lunch will be provided. Participants with food allergies or restricted diet are urged to bring lunch. This is a Rain or Shine event. Some portions of the day will be outdoors. Please dress appropriately and be prepared for outdoor weather on the day of the event. (i.e. Sunscreen, light jacket or sweater, etc.)
